Help Give Hope: A Life-Changing Cancer Treatment for Our Fri
Donation protected
We all have that one friend—the one who never asks for help, but would do anything for the people around them. Today, that friend needs us.
After battling cancer and enduring rigorous chemotherapy, the oncologist in Aruba delivered heartbreaking news: the treatment had little effect, and no further options were available locally. But giving up is not in his nature.
Determined to fight for his future, he sought second opinions from leading oncologists in The Netherlands, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. They all pointed to a new FDA-approved therapy—a real chance. Yet, Aruba’s healthcare system won’t approve or cover the costs, leaving him no choice but to fund it himself and travel to Medellín for treatment.
This is a critical moment—time and resources are limited, but hope is not lost. Every donation, big or small, gets him one step closer to life-saving care.
Gofundme will pay out your contributions in batches to me, the organizer of this crowdfund project, and I transfer them directly to Neville.
Your contribution will go directly to Neville to help him finance the following:
Enhertu (trastuzumab deruxtecan) is not a traditional chemotherapy, but it does contain a chemotherapy component and works in a targeted way. It is classified as an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC).
Here’s how it works:
1. Antibody (Trastuzumab): This part targets HER2, a protein that is overexpressed in some cancers (like HER2-positive breast, gastric, or lung cancers).
2. Drug (Deruxtecan): This is a topoisomerase I inhibitor, a type of chemotherapy that interferes with DNA replication.
3. Linker: Joins the antibody to the chemo drug and breaks once the ADC enters the cancer cell, releasing the chemo agent directly inside the cell.
So, is it chemo?
✅ Contains chemo: Yes — it includes a potent chemotherapy payload (deruxtecan).
❌ Not traditional chemo: Unlike standard chemotherapy, which affects both healthy and cancerous cells, Enhertu delivers chemo specifically to HER2-expressing cancer cells.
Summary:
Enhertu is a targeted cancer therapy that includes a chemotherapy drug, but because it selectively delivers the chemo to cancer cells, it's generally considered a targeted therapy rather than traditional chemotherapy.
How You Can Help
Your support will lift his spirits, remind him he’s not alone, and help cover the costs of his treatment.
Even if he would be too proud to ask, we know he deserves this chance.
Let’s show him that the world is still a good place—where kindness, generosity, and hope prevail.
Together, we can turn this fight into a victory. Thank you for believing in him. Thank you for helping.
