Hi everyone!
I can’t say I’ve ever done one of these before, but I want to start this for a special human, and her very special canine pal - Hazard.
I’ve worked closely with Amanda Baker, a Registered Veterinary Technician over the past 2 years and she is one of the most dedicated, determined and supportive people I have met in veterinary medicine - and now she needs our help!
Hazard is a 3 year old working Labrador Retriever with a huge heart, the most goofy personality and has been Amanda’s heart dog since he was a puppy.
Over the past month, Amanda began noticing subtle but concerning changes in Hazards hind end (deceased muscle mass, altered gait) and she knew right away that something wasn’t right.
She immediately pursued rehabilitation sessions and treatments, and after that it was suspected he had a disc issue in his back.
He was then referred to Riverview Animal Health Centre for an emergency CT scan and the results were devastating.
Hazard has been diagnosed with a spinal cord tumour causing these symptoms.
After exploring different treatment options and consulting with an oncologist in New Jersey, they believe that radiation therapy is the best treatment option to give Hazard the best chance at a longer, more normal life. They will be pursuing this treatment at the end of January.
The Good News
- Hazard is still a very happy, bouncy boy and we want him to stay that way!
- Amanda is an incredibly diligent and responsible pet owner and therefore has Trupanion pet insurance, which will help cover a significant portion of Hazards treatment.
The Bad News
Unfortunately, insurance does not cover:
- Taxes
- 10% of the full bill
- Consultation exams and specialist fees
- Travel Costs
- Accommodations
- Any additional expenses outside of his treatment
These unexpected costs add up quickly and are the reason she needs our support.
If you are able to donate, any amount truly helps. If donating isn’t possible - especially so soon after the holidays, sharing this page is just as meaningful and deeply appreciated.
Thank you for being part of Hazard’s story and helping make his next chapter possible ♥️
