One split second on a football field changed Cody’s life forever. After a series of tragic events, our son lost the sight and movement in his right eye. Now, a groundbreaking treatment opportunity in Germany offers hope - but we need your help to get him there.
Our son, Cody Chase, is one of the most selfless, caring, and genuine young men you could ever meet. He is always there for others, never asking for anything in return. Today, we are asking for help on his behalf.
What began as a routine AFL practice match for the Sorrento Football Club changed Cody’s life forever.
During the match, Cody suffered a blow to the eye socket from an accidental elbow, fracturing his orbital bone. He underwent surgery to repair the damage with a titanium plate, but the procedure was unsuccessful and left him with double vision. To address the double vision, Cody underwent a second surgery.
Tragically, the operation did not go as it was supposed to, resulting in permanent vision loss in his right eye and the loss of movement in that eye. In an instant, our healthy, active young man was forced to adapt to a completely different life.
Despite these challenges, Cody has shown remarkable strength and resilience. He faces each day with courage and optimism, refusing to let these circumstances define him.
Thanks to the support of Monash Hospital and his medical team, Cody has been accepted into a novel treatment program at the 'Savir Center' in Germany. This innovative treatment offers hope where few options currently exist.
While there are no guarantees it will restore his vision or eye movement, it represents a genuine opportunity to improve his condition and quality of life. For our family, even a small improvement would mean the world.
Time is critical, and there is a window for Cody to travel to Germany in approximately 3 months, and we are now facing significant costs for treatment, international travel, accommodation, and rehabilitation.
We are reaching out to our community, friends, family, and anyone moved by Cody’s story to help give him this chance.
Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping Cody access this treatment and easing the financial burden on our family.
If you are unable to donate, sharing Cody’s story would mean just as much. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read Cody’s story, for your support, and for helping us give him hope that his future will be better than it is today.
With gratitude,
The Chase Family
