Hi, everyone. I’m Chris Colvard, and I’m hoping you can help.
I suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands, making everyday activities painful to do, such as get dressed, fix a meal, hug my family, even type this sentence. I work with computers a lot (at work and at home), I write as a hobby, and I act in community theatre.
A few months ago, I became eligible for health insurance at my job. About that time, I noticed a weakness in my left hand. This led to a combination of numbness and pain. The pain is intense enough to keep me awake at night, and it’s had a negative impact on both my professional and personal life. Since I never had insurance before, I wasn’t sure what to do, but with some help from a couple of friends, I got to a doctor to see what was wrong.
The carpal tunnel syndrome in my left hand took a turn for the worse, and with further testing, showed that surgery was needed to relieve the pain. Luckily, the surgery itself is now at out-patient level and can be performed simply enough, being able to go back to work in a couple of days and able to fully recover within a few months to a year.
Not so luckily, since I hadn’t had insurance for that long a period, I would have to put some money up front. 1,761 dollars. My parents volunteered to help, but I’m afraid it won’t be enough. And that’s why I set up this page, so I can get the money needed to help my parents and me pay the up-front cost. I can handle the post-surgery payment; I just need some help getting the pre-surgery costs together. I need the money as soon as possible so I can get the surgery done and I can start enjoying things again.
And, hopefully, I can get the right hand done at a future time, without being a burden.
Any help will be appreciated. And I thank you in advance.
