Hi everyone,

As many of you know, I am heavily involved in animal rescue in many forms. I recently begun trapping and rescuing a small colony of skinny, malnourished, and unaltered cats I discovered outside of my apartment complex, paying for their vetting out of my own pocket. I knew that if I didn’t start helping these kitties, I’d quickly start to see sick and dying kittens popping up right outside my home.

Unfortunately, the most recent kitty I rescued, Chia, has some health issues that require more extensive care. Upon intake, the vets estimated her to be at least 10 years old—she was underweight, her gums were pale, and they found a large mass on her abdomen. Because of her poor condition, she was not able to be immediately spayed or vaccinated. I paid to do a blood panel, which revealed an extremely high WBC count. This could mean cancer, infection among many other things. In order to get her to a place where she can receive more testing and care, I desperately need community support and donations.

Many rescuers would have opted to euthanize after hearing she was older and unhealthy, but I couldn’t do that without at least giving her a fighting chance first. She does not seem fully feral, meaning if she does have a condition, it could be treatable and managed, and she could go on to live her golden years healthy and safe. I have no idea how long she’s been surviving outside, but she was in desperate need of rescue. I believe she found me so I could help her.

She has been receiving round the clock care, antibiotics and immune supplements and has begun to show mild improvements. The next step in Chia’s journey is to repeat bloodwork, x-rays, SNAP test, and hopefully vaccines, and spay and mass removal, if possible. This will cost at least $500, likely more if she is well enough to get all the necessary care.

I am desperately asking for monetary support on behalf of Chia, because she cannot ask for herself. I want to give this sweet girl the chance she otherwise would never have.
