Hi, my name is Brittany, and I’m here with tears in my eyes, asking for help for my sweet little chihuahua, Cali. She’s more than just my dog—she’s my shadow, my comfort, my tiny best friend with a giant heart. She’s been there through every up and down, curling up beside me when I’m sad, greeting me at the door with her happy wiggle, and making even the hardest days feel lighter.

One of my favorite memories of her is taking her to the beach and watching her swim in the ocean for the very first time. Her tiny legs kicked so hard and fast, ears bouncing, eyes sparkling with excitement. After each wave she would look at me with that huge smile only she can pull off—as if to say, “Come on, Mom! Let’s go again!”

Now… she can’t. While trying to re-create that memory on my birthday, Cali had an unfortunate accident and was hurt. Cali has a torn ACL/CCL, and every step she takes now comes with a limp. She still tries to play, but after just a few moments, she has to stop and lie down. She looks up at me with those big brown eyes, as if asking why her legs won’t let her be the happy, zooming little dog she used to be. It breaks my heart.

The surgery she needs will give her back the ability to walk, jump, and play without pain—but it’s expensive, far more than I can afford on my own. I’ve looked into every option I can, but I can’t let Cali live like this when I know she could have her joy and freedom back.
