It is with a broken heart that Lisa Passero shares the passing of her beloved husband, Ralph Passero. Ralph was a wonderful and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend. He enlisted in the Army at just 17 years old and served in Vietnam as a fearless paratrooper, deeply proud of his country. Ralph was also a 9th Degree Black Belt and President of the Don Nagle Isshinryu Karate Association, dedicating over 50 years to the study and teaching of karate. His legacy in the martial arts community is profound, and he touched countless lives with his strength, kindness, and leadership.
On Ralph's birthday, February 14, he experienced a sudden and critical medical emergency that required immediate intervention. Surgeons operated on his brain, successfully stabilizing his emergent and delicate condition. However, Ralph was already struggling with chest congestion, which dangerously compromised his lungs and breathing. He remained in the CCU/ICU for 8 days, fighting bravely until his body could fight no more. His passing has left a tremendous void in the lives of his family, friends, and the entire Isshinryu community.
Now, Lisa and her family are faced with extensive and unexpected medical and funeral expenses. Any donation will help cover these costs and related expenses over the next several months, easing the burden during this incredibly difficult time. In addition to financial support, please help by sharing this request with your friends, family, and martial arts communities world-wide. Your kindness and generosity will honor Ralph’s memory and support his family as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. Until we meet again—see you on the other side, Ralph. You are irreplaceable, and your legacy will live on forever.
