I am caring for an 86-year-old man who is currently at the end of his life. Over time, he became much more than a patient — he became family to me and my children. To us, he is Grandpa.

He has no immediate family, no close relatives, and no financial resources to cover funeral arrangements. As someone who has been deeply involved in his care and life, I cannot bear the thought of him leaving this world without dignity or proper arrangements.

The total cost from the funeral home is $3,585, which will cover:

• Basic funeral home services

• Transportation

• Necessary end-of-life arrangements

This fundraiser is only to cover funeral expenses so that he may be laid to rest with the respect every human being deserves.

He lived a long life, and although he does not have family to advocate for him in the traditional sense, we have been his family, and I am doing my best to ensure he is not forgotten.
