Cathy and Jess have been dreaming. Dreaming and scheming and planning and fretting and then problem solving and then back to planning. Cathy and Jess have been working on opening a coffee shop.
It all started with the end of the world. Ok maybe not the end of the world but a global pandemic and that feels close enough. When the shut down literally shut down the two businesses that surrounded my little art gallery it also destroyed a large portion of my foot traffic. I panicked.
“I think I am going to have to open a coffee shop." I said to Cathy; in a conversation that resulted in us both realizing we have tons of skills and the experience needed to pull this off!
“That's a great idea, I think we should do it!” was her reply. And so began our journey….
A little about us: Cathy and Jessica have combined experience in small business management/ownership in retail, restaurant/bakery and coffee shops. Both Cathy and Jessica are also artists as well as business people so are very adept at using creativity to problem solve and innovate.
Cathy trained at the Culinary Institute of America in New York and was known as "The Pie Lady" during her time at the Ole Store in Northfield Mn. before opening her own small business (Glass Garden Beads and The Trinket Foundry, both of which she successfully sold and are still in business today) for 20+ years.
Jessica's experience in coffee shops comes from many years working for Starbucks, where she learned how to get through a line in the morning!
Together, we will bring a fun, tasty, unique experience to historic, downtown Faribault. Our Goal is to open the doors in early November.
Good Day Coffee will be focused on fast, efficient service of great coffee and baked goods to go. We will offer gourmet snacks and packaged goodies as well as coffee beans and accessories related to coffee and snacks. Focusing on the morning rush hour crowd and the prime coffee drinking time of day. We are located at 318 Central Ave and our hours will be 6:45am-12:00pm Monday thru Saturday. Our service will be fast and efficient in order to get you on your way!
Your donations will be used to purchase some pretty cool stuff that will make our presence in the town unique and make your experience as the customer that much better!!!
In addition to your favorite coffee/espresso drinks, muffins, scones and homemade pies we will have gourmet packaged snacks, bottled beverages and other goodies. There will be lots of items that can be gifted or enjoyed by you! We'll have sauces and syrups and chocolate covered dried fruits and nuts, tins of cookies and other treats-fancy colas and bubbly things as well. Is your mouth watering yet? ? Expect to see handmade ceramic mugs and other unique items related to enjoying coffee and treats. Good Day Coffee is more than just a coffee shop! Your donations will help us have a wider selection of these kinds of things!
We have pulled together just enough funding to get the doors open so we are doing this fundraiser to help us get an even stronger start and of course we have had some unexpected expenses...like the floor needing to be redone... We are also taking a risk doing this during a pandemic but we know the community needs a coffee spot so we are working hard to give you that. The more robust and successful our funding is the better our opening will be and the better our chances of surviving during the pandemic. We are ready to do this and can do so but with your help we can do it even better!
In addition to a monetary donation we are also asking for you help in spreading the word! Even if you cannot give today you can be an enormous help to us by sharing this campaign with your friends and family in the community.
