Hi everyone,

I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for our beautiful boy, Gary.

Gary is a happy-go-lucky 5 year old Jack Russell who came into our lives in May when we rehomed him from the Doggy Daycare where I work. From the moment he stepped through our door, he fitted right in. His playful spirit, loving nature, and heart-melting head tilt quickly made him part of the family. He instantly became a best friend and younger brother to our other dog Pierre and the two are now thick as theives.

Unfortunately, just a month after bringing him home, we found a small lump on one of his back legs. After numerous tests and vet visits, we recieved heartbreaking news that Gary has a mast cell tumour which is a form of cancer... Further investigations have shown that the cancer is aggressive and has already spread through his leg and into some of the lymph nodes in his abdomen.

We now face two very difficult options:

Long term chemotherapy to help slow the cancer's progression and buy Gary more time. He is now very happy and healthy and could continue this way for some time although his life expectancy will likely be limited.

Or a more aggressive treatment plan involving aputation of the affected leg, removal of the affected lymph nodes follwed by a few rounds of chemotherapy. The second option is his best chance of beating the cancer and potentially living a full, happy life though sadly there is no guarantee the cancer won't return if unsuccessful.

The cost of both options is high, especially for the surgery which would be around £10,000. While we do have pet insurance, unfortunately it's already been largely used up during the diagnostic phase.

We are determined to do whatever it takes to give Gary the best possible chance at a happy and healthy life however long this may be, but we would be so grateful for any support we can get. Any donation, big or small, will help us get young Gary the treatment he needs and deserves.

Gary is such a bright, loving soul who has brought so much joy to our home in such a short time and we have fallen absolutely in love with him already. He's still fit and full of life, and has so much more love to give. Please help us fight for him.
