Hello everyone, I am a first year student that attends University of California, Riverside. I was in class when a fire started at the apartment complex I stayed at and destroyed many units. I am a victim of the fire as my unit was one of the units that were destroyed due to the impact of the fire, smoke, and water used to put out the fire. So far, what I know is that I can’t go in and retrieve any belongings because the walls are not stable, and so it’s unsafe to enter. They stated that I most likely wouldn’t be able to access them ever, so I need to replace everything I had in there.
I am looking for help and support in recovering my belongings that I lost from the fire, as I wasn’t able to get anything before everyone was evacuated and I can’t afford to replace everything I lost. At the time, I only had what was in my backpack and the clothes on my back and since I didn’t have renters insurance, I have no help in that form. Right now, I am just figuring everything out little by little, and I’ve been told that I should start a page.
The support I receive will help pay for things I lost such as electronics I left, clothes that I lost, personal items that I cared for a lot and fees for important documents that I might need to replace. Anything helps and I appreciate any kind of support, whether it’s spreading information or contributing to the GoFundMe.
