Help Giovanni start his urgent cancer treatment

On February 5th Giovanni visited urgent care due to unbearable abdominal pain. After numerous tests and medications, he returned home. But the pain was so great that he had to go back to the hospital three days later when then they performed a biopsy and a diagnosis that nobody imagined. Giovanni was referred to a cancer center in White Plains, NY to start pancreatic cancer treatment—stage 4.

Giovanni is a father, a son, a brother, a friend, and a husband to my sister. He is one of the funniest people I know, and this horrible news has left our family and his, shaking, scared, and worried about the future.

As for today, Giovanni will be starting treatment in the next weeks, meantime he is taking his medications not covered by his insurance. The increased discomfort and strain that he has been feeling these couple of days in his abdomen is due to the cancer rapidly spreading into his liver. Giovanni has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. 

Today we are asking friends and family to help with the cost of his medications until he starts with his chemo treatment, and we have a clear picture of what he will be needing.

El 5 de febrero, Giovanni visitó urgencias porque tenía un dolor abdominal insoportable. Después de numerosas pruebas y medicamentos, regresó a casa. Pero el dolor fue tan fuerte que tuvo que regresar al hospital tres días después, cuando luego le realizaron una biopsia y un diagnóstico que nadie imaginaba. Giovanni fue remitido a un centro oncológico en White Plains, Nueva York, para comenzar el tratamiento del cáncer de páncreas en fase 4.

Giovanni es padre, hijo, hermano, amigo y el esposo de mi hermana. Es una de las personas más divertidas que conozco, y la horrible noticia ha dejado a nuestra familia y a la suya temblando, asustadas y preocupadas por lo que les depara el futuro.

Por hoy lo único que sabemos es que Giovanni comenzará tratamiento las próximas semanas, mientras tanto está tomando sus medicamentos que no cubre su seguro médico.

El aumento de malestar y tensión que ha estado sintiendo estos días en su abdomen se debe a los tumores que se están propagando rápidamente en su hígado. A Giovanni le han diagnosticado cáncer en etapa 4.

Hoy les pedimos a amigos y familiares que nos ayuden con el costo de sus medicamentos y atención hasta que comience con su tratamiento de quimioterapia y tengamos una idea clara de lo que necesitará.

Hi friends and donors,

We are incredibly touched and grateful for all the love and support we've received since we started the fundraiser for Giovanni. Your kindness and encouragement have been a ray of sunshine in our lives. Thank you!

We wanted to give you all an update on Giovanni's progress. We're happy to share that he has been accepted into a well-known Cancer Center in New York, and his treatment will begin in 10 days. However, before he starts treatment, he will undergo surgery this Tuesday, and his doctors will schedule a date for his chemotherapy then.

We're sad to say that Giovanni's insurance won't cover all the costs of his treatment, hospitalization, medication, and care. We're not sure what percentage of the expenses will be covered, but we're remaining positive and focusing on the fact that he's been accepted, and his treatment will begin soon.

The cost of cancer treatment is around $150,000+ therefore we decided to increase the amount of our fundraising to reach our goal. We're appealing to all of you for your support in spreading the word and donating to help us reach our goal. Your contribution will make a huge difference in supporting Giovanni and our family during this difficult time.
