Early October Gio was admitted to the hospital with a suspected infection on his artificial heart valve which caused pneumonia and seizures. He was sedated while on a breathing tube as doctors worked to figure out his best treatment options.

he was transferred to Loyola to continue testing and specialized support. His breathing tube was removed on 10/26 and on 11/12 was released to be cared for at home with a temp defibrillator, and dialysis.

Gio’s husband, James has been by his side and helping him heal at home. Estimate for going back to work is looking like February but there are a lot of hurdles still to tackle first!

Both Gio and James have and will miss a lot of work while in recovery, and any help is much appreciated! We’re all so so happy to have Gio home and healing, and if you can, your help can ease a little stress from their plates so they can continue on getting our Gio back to his healthy happy self!
