Help Gio Get to the North American Powerlifting Championship
Donation protected
Hey everyone,
My name is Giovanni Land (you might know me as “Gio” or “Land”) and I’ve been selected to represent Jamaica at my first ever international competition:
️2025 North American Powerlifting (NAPF) Championships
Cayman Islands
July 27-August 2
Though I participated in many sports growing up, this will be my first time on a national team. I really want to make my country and family proud. But to do that, I need your help.
Like most sports in Jamaica, powerlifting is severely underfunded. It’s also a very costly discipline. To participate in this meet, I’m faced with significant expenses:
- Airfare from Jamaica to Grand Cayman
- Visa fees and other administrative costs
- Competition fees
- Hotel accommodation and meals in Grand Cayman for 7 days
- Nutrition and supplements leading up to the event
- Physiotherapy to mitigate injuries
- Equipment and apparel approved by the International Powerlifting Federation
I would love to be able to put my full focus into preparation for the meet, and having the finances to back me up would give me peace of mind.
I’ve competed in every major powerlifting meet in Jamaica since 2023, battled through injuries and put in countless hours of training. To see my hard work and consistency culminate in this moment is a dream come true.
More than anything, I want to use this competition to honour my father, the late James “Moony” Land, known and loved by the Kingston College family and members of the athletics fraternity in Jamaica.
Any contribution, whether monetary or otherwise, is greatly appreciated. The journey is just beginning, and I’d be honoured for you to be part of it. God bless you.
