Our mom, Ginny (Virginia) Russell, has spent her life giving to and caring for others. She is loving, generous, and selfless. She always has a ready smile, a kind word, is smart, funny, resilient, and has endless sass!
And now we are hoping to give back to her just a bit of what she’s given to so many people in her almost 81 years on this earth.
At roughly 1:30 am. on Friday, August 29th, the apartment directly below Ginny’s unit erupted in flames. The tenant had been harassing her and other tenants for months, causing her tremendous fear and disruption, and resulting in police visits and interactions with the apartment management company—too many to count.
Thank God, she is physically unharmed, but is in shock, emotionally distressed, without even basic belongings, and displaced from her home of 13 years.
As a result of the fire, Ginny’s apartment has been deemed “uninhabitable” for at least a few months. Most of her furniture and other possessions can't be salvaged. She is safe and surrounded by family. Unfortunately, in this moment, the management company is not stepping up and the whole situation is overwhelming.
My brothers and I are helping, and she has insurance, but there are still going to be expenses that won’t be covered and possible legal action we will need to navigate.
I want her to feel as secure and supported as possible, and some financial security will allow her to focus on the business of finding a new, safe, and happy place to call home.
