My partner Ginni urgently needs dental treatment after years of failed and poorly done dental work left her with serious damage to her teeth. Recently an abscessed tooth and the loss of a front incisor have left her in pain and deeply struggling with her self-confidence. With no NHS dentists available near us, private treatment is our only option, and we simply can’t afford it alone.
Hi, my name is Sam and I’m creating this fundraiser for my partner, Ginni.
We’ve been together for two years and a half but we’ve actually known each other for over a decade at this point, having met in college. She means the world to me and right now she’s going through something that has been incredibly difficult for her, both physically and emotionally that is frustratingly beyond my ability to help.
Since she was young, Gin's suffered with ongoing dental problems which have required a lot of work over the years. Unfortunately, the treatment she received under her previous dentists were not done to an acceptable standard, leaving her with weakened teeth and repairs that have over time begun to fail. Recently things have gotten much worse as one of her premolars (which previously needed a filling) developed an abscess and now needs to be removed and while recovering from the infection she both lost another filling and, worst of all, an already damaged and badly repaired central incisor has broken away which has resulted in a very noticeable gap in her smile.
Her teeth have always been something she’s felt very self-conscious about but this has taken a huge toll on her confidence and mental health, genuinely not wanting to leave the house without a face mask or something covering her mouth. Sadly, like many people in the UK right now, we’ve found ourselves unable to get treatment with the NHS due to the fact there are simply no NHS dentists available anywhere even remotely near us, leaving private care as the only option.
About a year ago she received a consultation estimating the work needed at around £3,000 with a previous dentist but now registered with a different dentist whose prices appear to be lower. When she has her abscessed tooth removed at the beginning of April she is going to enquire about a quote for the rest of the repair work, something she is naturally terrified to do due to the costs. Both of us are disabled and with the severe cost of living crisis in this country neither of us have been able to build up any sort of savings for a situation like this; any savings she had have already gone on either healthcare or housing costs.
Neither of us enjoy needing to resort to this but sadly we are at a loss on what else to do. If you’re able to donate or even share this page, it would mean more to us than we can express. Every penny of support will help bring her one step closer to getting the care she needs and finally restoring her confidence.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
