Erena “Ginger” Sasso is truly one of a kind — a genuine friend, a bright light, and a woman whose energy fills every room she enters. Anyone who knows Ginger can tell you how she lifts others up with her warmth, her laughter, and her willingness to lend a hand whenever someone’s in need. It’s only fitting that she was born on International Women’s Day (March 8), because she embodies strength, compassion, and sisterhood every single day.
Sadly, this year Ginger won’t be celebrating her birthday as planned. On Friday night, March 6, 2026, a fire broke out in her Southwest DC home while she was away, and she lost everything. To make this even harder, the tragedy struck the same weekend she remembers her beloved Aunt Mickie, who passed away on her birthday in 2022. Ginger is now facing the unimaginable: rebuilding her life from the ground up after this total loss of her home and belongings.
The funds raised here will go directly toward helping Ginger with essential needs — food, clothing, temporary housing, and basic necessities — as she begins to put her life back together. Ginger is strong and resilient, but even the strongest among us need help when life turns upside down. If you’ve ever been touched by Ginger’s kindness, generosity, or joyful spirit, or simply have a heart to give to those experiencing hardship, now is the time to give back. Please consider donating and sharing this campaign to help her get through this difficult chapter with love and support. We give thanks that Ginger was not physically harmed in the fire, and we continue to pray for her strength and healing as she grows through this time of trial. Every donation helps. No amount is too small. Please give what you can and share this page widely. Let’s help Ginger rebuild, together.
