Help Gina recover from Surgery !!

Hi friends,

I am writing this on behalf of our beloved Gina. After nearly a year of misdiagnoses resulting in chronic pain and frustration with our fucked up healthcare system, she finally got the imaging that would reveal she has two severe tears in her left shoulder , along with a cyst that has been pushing on a set of nerves. One tear is on her rotator cuff and the other on her labrum. Her doctors have surmised that this injury is a result of repetitive motion and wear and tear of the shoulder over the years. Gina has worked in Chicago’s restaurant industry for thirteen years, and on urban farms across the city for the past five. She loved both jobs, but they’ve been incredibly hard on her body.

This week, Thursday March 7th Gina will be going into surgery and she’ll be rendered unable to work for three months. Between medical bills, rent, utilities, transportation to and from physical therapy, and groceries—the prospect of having no income for three months is (as you may well imagine) terrifying. Gina puts a lot of time toward taking care of others, of lending a hand in any way she can, and showing up for her community. She needs our help.
