Help Gina Pay Her Bills During Her Cancer Fight
Donation protected
My name is Diana and I have set up this Gofundme to help my mother pay her bills during her treatment.
Since June my mother has been struggling with a work-related injury. After getting surgery on her wrist, she continued to have a mysterious pain in her shoulder that didn't seem to be related to her previous injury. Doctors were prepared to do an additional surgery--thinking she had a torn tendon. Sadly, a routine MRI revealed a hidden and terrifying surprise--two growths, one on her collar bone and the other, nearby, on her shoulder.
My mother was scared but we all remained hopeful that this would be something as simple as a bone bruise. But a biopsy dashed that hope and revealed that she had lung cancer and that these "bumps" were in fact, tumors. In another blow, her PET scan showed spots lighting up not just in her collar bone and shoulder, but on her spine and in her lymph nodes and lungs.
She was told she had stage 4 lung cancer.
Starting in February, my mother began radiation and chemotherapy. In our first stroke of luck, my mother was told her mutation makes her eligible for a lung cancer therapy called Tagrisso. We have all the faith in the world that she will beat this diagnosis and we want to keep her mentally strong. Her biggest desire is to have a life to return to.
My mother is a strong woman who values her independence and takes pride in her work--before being injured, she had switched careers and dedicated herself to nursing severely disable patients. She has spent most of her life in service to others and has helped run charity fundraisers. She loves fiercely and has so much more that she wishes to give.
Her family has set up this gofundme to help pay her bills (Rent $1680, Car Payments & Insurance $400, etc.) as her disability check does not cover these basic needs. Her treatment is currently projected to last 6 months so we would like to help her maintain her independence throughout her treatment.
Any amount of money would help her focus on what really matters--her mental fortitude and health during her fight with stage 4 lung cancer. As my mother's illness has progressed, she has become increasingly reliant on friends and family to help her manage her prescriptions and her appointments and is completely unable to drive. The ability to continue living in her apartment makes my mother feel like cancer hasn't taken her dignity from her.
Please help support her during her fight against stage 4 lung cancer.
