Hello Family, Friends, and those willing to help! Our mother Gina Taylor (Christopherson) went in to see a specialist in Billings,Mt for a spot found on the Retina of her eye during her routine eye checkup ,And then she was encouraged to go get more testing done in Salt Lake City, Utah at the John Moran Eye Center in which we traveled with her, beings she had just had her 3rd knee surgery and wasn’t able to travel that far alone .
On January 3rd 2024 she was diagnosed with a rare aggressive cancer called Choroidal Melanoma in the Retina of her eye. Although we are waiting to hear back from the scans whether it has spread or not, they want to push for Radiation as soon as possible .Beings the location of where it is located, surgery for the removal of the melanoma is not much of an option, so she will be going back January 17th-25th to start her first round of Radiation. Radiation for this kind of cancer involves a surgery that they will insert a golden plaque into her eye that will hold the radiation treatment for a total of 4-6 days straight.Radiation of this sort will not guarantee her not losing her vision but it will prolong her vision if all goes okay.
Although we don’t know for sure how many rounds of treatment she will need , we do know she will need to go back 2 weeks after radiation, and then we will find out more at that appointment to see how the radiation responded the first time.
We hate asking for any kind of help but As we all know travel and expenses for these treatments is very overwhelming and can be very costly, definitely traveling in the winter not knowing how roads will be and most the traveling back and forth looks as if we will be flying not driving for the upcoming treatments and appointments.
We are asking for anything that may help, even if you aren’t able to help, if you could just send prayers her way, that is what we feel she greatly needs and will appreciate most.
She has been out of work since November beings she needed to take the proper recovery for her knee, and then this has sprung on her now, along with meeting with her Back surgeon at end of next month to discuss another needed surgery for that.
We are just trying to find a sense of relief for her going through all this at once.
One thing we know, she is a fighter as she had breast cancer in previous years in both breasts, So we know she will get through this too ,God willing!
We will keep every one updated through this so if you want to follow her Journey we feel this is the best way to do so❤️
