My name is Destiny Atkins, and I’m the proud owner of Gimme The Scoop, Omaha’s handcrafted Italian ice business. This business was born from love—love for my family, love for my community, and love for creating something fresh, fun, and inclusive.
When I lost my grandmother, I promised myself I would keep her spirit alive by chasing my dreams and showing my kids what hard work and faith can do. She believed in me, even before I fully believed in myself, and that belief is what gave me the courage to start this business.
With that vision, I stepped out and built Gimme The Scoop from scratch, testing flavors in my kitchen, investing every dollar I could into equipment, and leaning on my family who has been right by my side every step of the way. Over time, we’ve grown from small beginnings to serving at community events, private parties, and operating inside Huskerland Popcorn.
But as we grow, so do the challenges. Right now, the machine we use to make our Italian ice is limiting how much we can produce. That means longer hours, smaller batches, and sometimes not being able to keep up with demand. To truly take the next step, we need a commercial machine that costs $28,000.
This machine will:
Allow us to produce more product in less time
Make it possible to offer pint-size containers this winter, so families can take Gimme The Scoop home and enjoy it year-round
Help us keep going strong during slower months, instead of scaling back
I’ve been saving and reinvesting everything back into the business, but I can’t do this alone. That’s why I’m reaching out to my community.
Your donation isn’t just helping us buy equipment. It’s helping a mom build a legacy for her kids. It’s helping a small Black-owned business grow and create opportunities. It’s helping us bring joy to schools, families, and community events all over Omaha.
Every scoop we serve is filled with love, and with your help, we can serve even more.
Thank you for believing in me, my family, and Gimme The Scoop. With your support, we’ll keep this dream alive, one scoop at a time.
