Help Gillian Beat Cancer and Preserve Fertility
Donation protected
My beautiful niece, Gillian Mraz, was recently diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive mixed germ cell cancer. She already had the tumor removed along with one ovary and Fallopian tube.
As the team in TN had no experience with this type of tumor we, as a family, decided coming to Sloan Memorial for treatment would give her access to the best care available.
Gillian had to leave her home and her support system, which included a heart-wrenching goodbye to her emotional support animal, Willow. Both Willow and my sister’s Dog Bash will have to be boarded, as she could not burden her TN “framily” with taking care of the dogs for four months.

Gillian is 23, and devastated to learn her fertility could be compromised by chemotherapy. She wants to be a mom someday and is currently undergoing extensive fertility treatments to give her the best chance of starting a family when she is ready.
Gillian was laid off from her job upon diagnosis and her unemployment was denied because she is unable to “actively seek employment”, (which infuriates me). Social Security Disability can take up to 8 months if approved.
The financial burden is taking a huge toll on my sister as she, herself, has long-term medical conditions and is on SSDI. My sister’s ex has been wonderful and helping where he can and has even had to draw from his retirement.
Funds will be used for transportation, lodging (when she needs to stay in NYC), and furniture as I had to create two extra bedrooms, food, boarding fees, expensive copays, medication, a wig, as well as her normal monthly bills.
Funds for transportation will be needed after treatments since she will have to come back to NY every two-three months for several years for follow-up. The best guestimate of travel would be a total of $300-400 roundtrip airfare for both of them with a minimum of 5-6 visits the first year alone. Gillian has also already lost 30 lbs due to cancer and needed some new things.
Below is just a handful of the bills paid so far.

Gillian is a vibrant young lady with a killer smile. Nothing would make her smile more than knowing that her family, extended family and friends are rallying behind her to help her get through this challenging chapter in her life. I am asking for your prayers for complete healing.
Please consider donating to her GoFundMe account and whatever you can contribute will be a huge blessing to my family.
