Help Gilded Studio Recover from Devastating Robbery
Donation protected
Gilded Studio, located in Dorchester, MA, is a small, queer, and disabled-owned pole dance studio dedicated to creating a trauma-informed, empowering, and inclusive space for people of all genders and abilities. We’ve worked hard to recover from the financial strain of the COVID-19 pandemic, all while staying committed to providing a safer and supportive environment for our community.
Last night, just a week before Christmas, our studio was robbed. The thief stole essential items, including our speaker, air purifiers (used to reduce COVID risks), lights, mirrors, laptop, and other supplies critical to running our classes. We are still discovering the full extent of what was taken.
This robbery has forced us to cancel classes indefinitely until we can replace these items, placing an even greater strain on our business and our instructors, who rely on these classes for their livelihoods.
This is a devastating blow. Our owner, who is the sole financial provider for the business, is already burdened with recent medical bills and cannot afford to replace the stolen equipment. Without these items, we cannot continue to provide the movement classes that are a vital resource for our students and a cornerstone of our community.
We are reaching out to you, our community, and allies, to ask for your help. Your contributions will go directly toward replacing the stolen equipment and helping us reopen fully so we can continue serving the community we love.
If we are fortunate enough to raise more than what we need to recover from this robbery, any excess funds will go toward paying down loans we had to take on during the COVID-19 pandemic. These loans have been a significant burden, and paying them down would help us move closer to financial stability.
Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. If you can’t contribute financially, sharing this campaign with your network will also mean the world to us.
Thank you for helping us keep Gilded Studio a safe and welcoming space for all.
