Yesterday on September 17, 2025—[Goddaughter’s Leah’s birthday]—our family suffered an unimaginable tragedy. My cousin, Gilbert Araiza—the loving father of my goddaughter Leah and niece Gala—was driving home from work with Leah when a car traveling in the opposite direction collided with them head-on.

Instead of a day filled with celebration, it became one of the most heartbreak. My goddaughter was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and her dad was airlifted by helicopter, but despite every effort, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gilbert was a devoted father and husband who worked tirelessly to give his daughters a bright future. His sudden passing has left an enormous hole in our hearts and an unexpected financial burden for funeral costs, medical expenses, ongoing healing of my goddaughter and financial hardship for the family.

We are asking for help to cover:

• Support for her care as she adjusts to life without her dad
