Help Gilberto get home to Belize healthy and safe

This young man has been through a lot for his very
young age. He underwent cleft lip and palate surgery
when he was six years old, and returned to the U.S.
last year after years of waiting for treatment of his
twisted spine caused by congenital scoliosis.
Severely malnourished and weighing only 37 lbs upon
his arrival to Cincinnati in October of 2021, he and his
devoted mom were welcomed into the arms of an
incredible community of support.
His complex treatment and final spine surgery at
Cincinnati Children's Hospital were successful, but
Gilberto's healing journey continued when it was
discovered he also has severe sleep apnea.
If left untreated, this could have dire affects on
Gilberto's lungs and heart.
Treatment for his complex sleep apnea include the
use of a BiPAP machine, as well as an oxygen
concentrator - both expensive and life-saving devices
for Gilberto!
We are seeking contributions to purchase this vital
equipment which will help Gilberto continue to thrive
and live a happy, productive life!
The total cost of both machines, in addition to extra
batteries is approximately $15,000. Any funds raised
in addition to this amount will go towards his next
trip to the U.S. for one final surgery which will aid
Gilberto's speech.
