Gilbert is a 4-year-old loving rabbit full of life. Recently, he was attacked by a dog and had to receive stitches and was on antibiotics for 2 months. Unfortunately, the stitches ripped, and we had to care for the wound from the inside out with daily wound flushes and ointment. After 2 months of recovery, he got his cone off and was ecstatic.
A week after removing his cone, Gilbert became ill with a liver lobe torsion. Part of his liver is twisted, and he will need emergency surgery to remove the lobe before internal bleeding occurs. While I have most of the costs covered, the surgery ranges from $900 to $1,500 depending on how he reacts under sedation. His current bill total is $800. Gilbert is hospitalized at the WSU vet hospital where he is receiving around the clock medication and fluids. At this point in time, any dollar helps save him and bring him home.
