Help Sedona & Her Sons Rebuild After Devastating Loss and Injury
Goal: $20,000
On March 3rd, Sedona Kirby’s world was shattered in an instant.
She ran outside after hearing a terrifying commotion—only to find her beloved family dog, Frankfurt (affectionately known as Frankie or Franklin), in a brutal fight for his life. Without hesitation, Sedona dove in to save him. In doing so, her hands were mangled beyond recognition. Tragically, Franklin, who had been part of their family since he was just four weeks old, didn’t survive.
Franklin was her 9-year-old son’s best friend. His loss devastated the family—but that was only the beginning.
Sedona was rushed to the hospital, losing consciousness from extreme blood loss. She suffered open fractures and severed tendons in both hands, requiring multiple surgeries. She’s had transfusions due to anemia with significant blood loss and now faces two more surgeries to attempt to restore mobility. She won’t regain the use of her hands for months.
While she was still in the hospital recovering, her home was broken into. Twice.
The first time, it was ransacked, vandalized and burglarized. The second, intruders returned with a sledgehammer. Dishes shattered. Furniture destroyed. Sentimental items stolen. A general contractor has since deemed the home uninhabitable due to water damage caused by vandals.
Now displaced and injured, Sedona and her two sons—ages 9 and 17—are living in a hotel, heartbroken and traumatized. Her youngest keeps asking, “Why do bad things happen to good people?” And right now, no one has an answer.
If you know Sedona, you know she’s the kind of person who gives without question—sharing food, opening her home, offering money and safe space to others in need. She’s never asked for anything.
Now, Sedona needs our help.
She temporarily cannot work due to her injuries. If you know her, you know how difficult not working will be. She is currently staying in a hotel with her children. The Town of Gilbert shutoff the water despite a medical necessity letter from her surgeon, her primary care doctor and the family pediatrician. Every day is a struggle just to stay afloat with a mounting stack of unplanned expenses.
All funds raised will go toward:
• Temporary housing and utilities
• Basic needs for her and her children
• Medical expenses and ongoing care
• Replacing their stolen belongings
• Stability during recovery and rebuilding
Even $10 or $20 makes a difference. And if you can’t donate, please share. Let’s show Sedona and her boys that compassion is still alive in this world. That when everything falls apart, community shows up..
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
