Help Giglia - Ruben's mom & Zdravko Cimbaljevic

Hello Everybody,

 

Exactly today, one week ago our dear Ruben Rivero died suddenly and unexpectedly.

Ruben has left a great wound in our hearts and for those of us who had the privilege to meet Ruben, we enjoyed his good humor, his human qualities, and his willingness to always help with a smile. This overwhelms us with great sorrow and his absence is deeply felt.

Two years ago Ruben made the decision to bring his mother from Venezuela to live with him and Zdravko Cimbaljevic, Ruben's emotional partner here in Canada. His mother is an elderly person with serious health problems. Giglia (Ruben's mom) was 100% emotionally and financially dependent on Ruben.

Unfortunately, we cannot bring Ruben back with us but we can show a gesture of generosity and support to her mother and Zdravko who, as expected, are dealing with great pain for the loss of Ruben.

Our friend Ruben, wherever he may be, will be thanking us.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 18 at 10:00 am PDT at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 555 Slocan St, Vancouver, B.C. For access to the Virtual Memorial Mass link and passcode, please email [email redacted]. There will be a Celebration of Life to honour Ruben, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the AFS Intercultural Program, which he felt so connected to throughout his life.
