Help Me Fight Stage 2 Breast Cancer and Manage Medical Costs
Hello, my name is Gigi, and I’m 34 years old. Recently, I received the life-altering diagnosis of stage 2 breast cancer. While this news has been overwhelming, I am determined to fight this disease with every ounce of strength and hope I have.
Currently, I am undergoing evaluations and consultations with multiple specialists to understand the best path forward. This likely includes chemotherapy depending on the results of further tests. I am also considering fertility preservation options such as freezing my eggs to protect my future ability to have children—decisions no one expects at my age, but choices I am facing head-on.
Freezing eggs is an important step for me, but it comes with significant costs. In Oklahoma, the average cost to freeze eggs is approximately $12,000 to $15,000 for one full cycle, which includes medications, monitoring, egg retrieval, and initial storage. Additional medication costs can range from $3,000 to $6,000, and long-term storage fees typically run around $500 to $1,000 per year. Many women need to undergo more than one cycle to ensure enough eggs are preserved, which can multiply these costs.
Amidst all this, I’ve started a new job, which comes with a new insurance plan. While the new insurance offers some benefits, including an $8k+ out-of-pocket maximum, the costs are still overwhelming. I am trying to manage these expenses without falling deeper into debt.
Cancer treatment is expensive, and the financial burden weighs heavy on me as I focus on my health and survival. This is why I am reaching out—to ask for your support. Any donation, no matter the amount, helps tremendously and means the world to me. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family also makes a huge difference.
My goal is to beat cancer and live a long, healthy life. Your generosity will help make that possible and give me peace of mind as I concentrate on healing.
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
With gratitude,
Gigi
