Giovanna (GiGi) developed appendicitis in August and underwent surgery to remove her appendix. Since the surgery, GiGi has had increasing health issues of unknown cause. She has been in and out of the hospital for months and unable to return to school and her daily activities. Her parents have said that she continues to get progressively worse each week, and she now requires care from a team of specialized doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Her family will need to pay for travel expenses as well as medical treatment, in addition to the thousands of dollars for medical bills already accumulated. During this difficult time her mother has also been unable to work, losing that source of income for the family.
