My name is Gigi, and I’m reaching out because I’m facing one of the hardest times of my life. In September, I lost my job of 10 years after multiple hospitalizations for self-harm. These mental health struggles have been made even harder by not having a stable place to live. My house is currently being remodeled, but I don’t have the money to finish it. There’s no plumbing or furnace, and after my dad passed away last year, I was left with extra bills instead of an inheritance. I have no close family left that can help, and I’m doing my best to get by on my own.
Right now, I’m living in a camper, and it’s freezing. Keeping it warm is a constant struggle, and I’m falling further behind on my mortgage. I’ve been trying to find work, but nothing has worked out so far. I’m also going to college for engineering and have managed to keep a 4.0 GPA, but it’s hard to focus on my future when my basic needs aren’t being met. I’ve even started selling my belongings to try to get by.
The funds from this fundraiser will go directly toward finishing my house—getting the plumbing in, installing a furnace, and putting the bathroom together. Having a safe, warm place to live would mean everything to me. I am truly grateful for any support, and I am trying my best to better myself and work toward a normal life. Thank you so much for considering helping me meet my basic needs and start to heal.
