Help GigaBite Robotics Compete Internationally
Donation protected
We are GigaBite Robotics, a community team founded in 2021 from South Lake Tahoe with 10 high school members. We design, and code our entire robot from the ground up. In February, we placed in the top 5 at the FIRST Tech Challenge Nevada State Championship and are moving onto the Premier Event in the Netherlands this summer, which is why we need to fundraise to help cover the travel costs for our 10 members! At States, we won the prestigious Inspire Award (3rd Place). We also earned the Think Award at the League Tournament and served as semi-finalist alliance captains.
Through our journey, we have gained valuable skills including the engineering design process, fabrication, coding, and leadership. We fulfill our mission by:
• Teaching STEM to youth in our community
• Pioneering access to STEM for students on our team
• Building connections with mentors, businesses, and other FTC teams
Seven of our members taught 8 weeks of STEM summer camps at the Boys and Girls Club. We co-hosted two FIRST Tech Challenge meets, and volunteered at five others. We also invited FTC teams to collaborate in our workspace, donating robot parts and sharing ideas. Currently, we are setting up workshops to teach Tinkercad at elementary schools, establish FIRST Lego League teams, and lead STEM camps at the Lake Tahoe Community College this summer.
A big part of FIRST is gracious professionalism, and to us, that means using our challenges as opportunities to learn and grow while always treating each other with respect.
