Help Gicele, a Dedicated Teacher and Mom

On Friday, April 18, my whole world turned upside down by a single phone call. My dear sister, Gicele Vazquez, was in a terrible car accident outside of our work. The accident caused her to fracture her hip joint. She was sent to a trauma center once they evaluated her injuries and decided that she needed surgery. She went through a successful surgery on Monday, but this kind of injury comes with many challenges. They placed a plate and screws in her hip joint to hold it in place.

She is a single mom, will have to go to a rehab center for a few weeks, will miss weeks of work, will have to do physical therapy, and attend many doctor appointments to come. There is so much uncertainty in life for the foreseeable future. Gicele loves and thrives in life and work. Gicele works at The Goddard School as the lead infant teacher. She is a wonderful teacher and mother who is scared about her future. Many people have been touched by her story and reached out on how to help. She needs our love and support and most of all she needs some financial support. Embarking on this long road to recovery is scary in itself, but the stress of paying bills and taking care of her son may cause undue stress.

We want her to have a speedy recovery and with our help, she may feel some relief from the day-to-day burdens of life.
