Help Ghofran and Abdullah Rebuild Their Lives in Cville

Donation protected
Ghofran and Abdullah have recently arrived in Charlottesville as refugees from Syria. Ghofran has been fighting breast cancer since 2021 and will be continuing her treatments at UVA Medical Center. In addition, they are raising 3 children, ages 18, 16, and 13. Their youngest daughter lives with low vision and uses only one arm due to a congenital condition.

Since their arrival in January, federal funding cuts have limited the community support available to Ghofran and Abdullah. Initially, the IRC was able to commit to 4 months of full rent support. This has now been reduced to a $300 payment; this comes nowhere close to covering their housing costs. Fortunately, Ghofran and Abdullah have close family in the area, Ola Mansour, but Ola and her family of 8 are straining already on tight finances and can't continue to help support Ghofran and Abdullah for long.

All proceeds will go directly to Ola, who will use them to pay Ghofran and Abdullah's rent until they can start earning income in Charlottesville.
