Help Ghanaian Children Fight Cancer Close to Home
Donation protected
In 2019, I returned to Cape Coast as a freshly minted Paediatrician, excited about the future. Paediatric oncology was not at the top of my list—until one November night changed everything.

A 14-year-old boy was rushed into our unit. He had lymphoma, a type of cancer, and his kidneys were shutting down as the tumour broke down. I called my professor in Accra, ready to transfer him. But after careful discussion, we realized he would not survive the journey. He would likely die before reaching Accra.
With few resources and a supportive team, we decided to treat him right here in Cape Coast. Against all odds—he lived!
That was the beginning. One by one, more children came. One by one, we found cures. For those we could not cure, we gave comfort closer to home, sparing families long and difficult journeys of four to nine hours to Accra.
Since then, we have seen over 100 children with cancer. Some are cured. Some are still fighting. Some families have cried with us, and others have laughed with us. Together, we have become family.

The Problem
Right now, children with cancer in Cape Coast share wards with children suffering from infectious conditions like pneumonia or severe ulcers. Imagine being immunosuppressed from chemotherapy and lying next to a child with a contagious illness. It is not safe, and it is not fair.

The Solution
With a small but passionate team, we have secured land from the hospital, and with their full support, we are building a dedicated Paediatric Oncology Unit.
Our vision is a 24-bed facility that will include:
• A daycare unit
• A pharmacy
• A lying-in ward
• A high-dependency unit
This will transform cancer care for children across the Central, Western, and Western North regions of Ghana.

How You Can Help
We are crowdfunding to make this vision a reality. Every contribution, big or small, will help us bring hope closer to home for children with cancer.
Childhood cancers are curable when detected early and treated appropriately. Together, we can give these children the fighting chance they deserve.

No amount is too small. Join us in building hope for the children of Cape Coast.
