Help Ghana people left homeless after flood
Donation protected
Thank you for taking the time to visit this GoFundMe.
My heart broke after reading the news of the Tidal Waves destroying parts of Keta in the Volta Region, Ghana on Sunday, 7 November 2021. The tidal waves ran through towns, flooded homes, schools, community houses, shops, kiosks etc. Many residents were forced out of their homes and rendered homeless, and some barely salvaged their belongings onto portions of the main road waiting for the water to recede. Some people have lost all they had.
My name is Saskia Nartey-Wemegah. Keta is the village where my dad was born and raised, and where members of my family still live. It's a magical place where the water of the Volta lagoon and the sea ocean meet each other. An area with great serenity, loving people and beautiful nature & culture. After hearing about these news, I started this crowdfunding with the intent of helping my people restore their homes and lives with the adequate funds.
These people need aid. Unfortunately, Ghana is not a country that can easily rely on their government, so it's up to us to offer a helping hand. The affected communities include Kedzikope, Keta Central and Abutiakope. Tidal waves have been an annual occurrence in these areas, and they can be resolved when a sea defense wall is constructed, but we can not wait for a government that is not helping to prevent these disasters.
The money is meant to go directly to the people affected by the flood. With an amount of €6000, the affected people can start relocating, rebuying the belongings they have lost and fulfill their basic needs to begin anew. Our money is worth a lot over there, especially when we all chip in. Even just €5 helps!
Thank you so much for your attention and for your help. Feel free to share this message on your social media platforms!
