Help GG Save Zoe: Urgent Surgery Needed
Donation protected
This is my grandmother's dog Zoe, a 5-year-old Havanese who is the daughter of my grandmother's other dog, Javi. Zoe is a very, very loving dog and loves my GG so much that she never leaves her side. My grandmother, who we call GG, is a hardworking woman who has done everything for herself up to this point in her life. She has unfortunately had 13 back surgeries and 3 neck surgeries, which have left her unable to move normally. She has multiple metal rods in her spine and neck that make her unable to turn her neck at all or bend over properly.
Today, May 5, my grandmother went on a stepping stool in order to grab something on the top shelf. When she was coming down, Zoe was unfortunately behind her and caused her to fall, hitting her head and shoulder on the oven top behind her. After a couple of minutes, Zoe started to show signs of labored breathing, and my GG feared she may have broken her rib. She called me, and my wife and I immediately went to take her and Zoe to the emergency vet all the way on Lamar. They took Zoe back, but we were met with an immense amount of inconsideration and were told that absolutely NOTHING could be done until my GG paid a $1,000 deposit. My GG hasn't been able to work for months and didn't have any money. My GG and I had to leave my wife at the vet and go pawn all the jewelry my GG had in order to pay the deposit. When we got back and paid, they started examinations and unfortunately informed us that her diaphragm was ruptured and her intestines had shifted up.
We were told to start calling around in order to find the best place to get surgery that matched her financial situation, but that the surgery would inevitably be upwards of $3,000. Everyone in my family is currently searching for options but is very limited due to the time and everyone being closed. Any donations would mean the world to us, as Zoe is a very important part of our family. If you can't donate, we ask that you please share our story in hopes we can save Zoe’s life. Thank you.
