If you live in or have ever visited Crestview and have been out to eat, there is very little chance that you have not ran into mom. She has been a pillar in the waitressing community for decades, starting in her hometown of Destin, making a pit stop in Fort Walton, before ending up in Crestview in the late 1980s. Whether you know her as "Lisa," "GG," or "Meemaw," you have gotten the same outgoing, over-the-top, welcoming service that she provides for everyone. Her love of meeting people and fostering relationships makes her perfect for the job that she fell into in her early teens and continues working now while in her later teens.
We had a bit of a scare last week with an infection that landed her in the ER, then got her admitted into the hospital for several days. Although she will be able to return home soon, it will be a while before she is able to work again and she will need additional medical care that is not covered by Medicare.
She has built a huge network of friends and "framily" over the decades and we are hoping that a few of y'all would help her out by making the next few months less painful for her, at least financially. I have witnessed her doing A LOT for a lot of people over the years, and often hear stories from former classmates and friends when they run into her, so I know she is loved, but, as her eldest, I also know how hardheaded she is and how she is incapable of asking for help. On behalf of mom's family, I am reaching out in hopes that some of y'all will be able to help us help her focus on healing without worrying about how her bills and treatments will be getting paid.
