Help Getting Tickets to Funeral in Ghana

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Candace and I’m hoping to help raise some funds towards tickets to help get my husband and myself to a funeral in Africa.
My husband lost his grandmother (who was more like a mother). This woman was a huge matriarchal figure in his culturally rich family. She was living and passed in her home in Ghana. She meant so much to my husband. His grandmother played a huge role in his raising and even the very beginning years of his life. He traveled different parts of the world with her and lived with her for years. He was known as her handbag! He was the one of many, many grandchildren who she took everywhere with her. It had unfortunately been a decade since he had even seen her once she stopped traveling to the states. She had met 3 of our children and even visited us in our homes in different states at different times throughout the years. I was even blessed to have been able to learn a Ghanaian family recipe by her herself. (The only one I can make to this day!)
This celebration of life and her passing is a huge deal due to the position she held in her town and the size of her family. People will be flying from all over and it’s a 4 day event.
We’ve been on the grind sorting, organizing, posting and selling things, dog-sitting, et cetera to help pull funds together to put into this travel pot. As I’m sure you can imagine, traveling to Africa is not cheap and involves a lot. We’ve had obstacle after obstacle and are finally approaching the finish line. Passports have been achieved, Visas to enter the country are approved and back, and childcare, transportation and meals for all 6 children have been arranged for the entire duration that we will be gone. However, as we’ve been planning, juggling and gathering funds the ticket pricing has unfortunately even increased. We are coming down to the wire on time and are needing some help with the purchasing of the tickets. Our goal was to purchase tickets by December 31st.
Anything helps. Seriously. Even $10/$20 can make a huge difference for us right now. If you are so led, please consider donating to this cause. We are forever grateful. Thank you.
With love and hope,
