Although the Health Department has been out to my unit, we constantly have bedbugs and other pests that the landlord refuses to take care of. We often don't have running water, As I walked into my bathroom, I was almost hit with the upstairs toilet as it came crashing through my bathroom ceiling. My landlord laughed it off and threatened eviction after I called Building and Safety and the Health Department.. He also informed me that because he has 30 days to repair, he would wait until the last day of the notice to make repairs. Water leaks through our walls, and the cabinets are falling apart, Nails are popping out of floor boards.
I know other people have it worse than us but I'm at my breaking point.
The last few years have been harder and harder to live in Los Angeles. especially in the tiny studio apartment we're stuck living in, and with the COVID pandemic, it's now becoming imperative that I move out of state. I'm in a catch 22 as we can't afford to live here anymore but can't afford the cost of a move.. We have hardly anything left as we've had to toss out furniture and other items due to bed bug and roach infestation. Packages have to be sent to other family members after ours are constantly stolen. This area has become more and more unsafe and sidewalks are littered with trash and human defecation. Not only are there constant break-ins and vandalism, but this building has been set on fire twice by an arsonist.. People are constantly breaking in to the apartment building, and vandalizing property, Management does nothing and the building is always dirty.
I'm desperate to move to Arizona where I can actually earn a living and have a social life again with the friends I grew up with. Several of my family members have already moved out of this state including my sister and mother. I would love to be able to move back to Arizona, where I have better opportunities and can be with my friends/family and start a new life. Please help with anything you can contribute, It would mean the world to us. Thank you so much for your donation!
