We’ve just finished our slimy fever dream of a short film, and now we want to share it with the world!
Hi there! We're a (possibly insane) group of indie filmmakers who decided to skip CGI or AI and make a 1950's creature feature inspired short film in just 8 days from shoot to picture lock. That's right, we built a giant slug, and we're not afraid to use it. Exhibit A:
"The Thing Inside Her" is a surreal comedy-horror born from a desire to tell a very modern story using old-school filmmaking heart. That story is this: As the hormones wear off from her recently removed IUD, a woman realizes a nightmareish truth: her boyfriend is actually a giant slug.
It’s a film about friendship, reproductive health, and how when we're disconnected from ourselves, and made to distrust our own reality, monstrous things can happen.
We need your help!
The film is 100% finished. However, finishing a film is only half the battle. To get this Thing in front of audiences at major international film festivals, we need a final push of support.
Your donations will go directly toward:
Festival Entry Fees: Helping us submit to top-tier genre, comedy, and international film festivals.
Travel for the Team: Festivals are for networking! We need to get our team to screenings to participate in Q&As, connect with distributors, and advocate for reproductive health conversations in film. Not to mention, we'd like to meet and high five everyone who watches our film,(especially we'd like to high five the girlies and those with IUD experiences to share).
Vimeo Distribution: To ensure programmers and distributors can view the film in high-definition, we need a year long Vimeo subscription.
Awards Entry Fees: Putting our incredible crew’s work up for the industry recognition they deserve costs money. Partially for entry fees, and partially for bribing. (Jk, we would NEVER).
Why Support Us? Excellent Q.
By backing this project, you’re supporting:
Practical Effects: Keeping the art of practical creatures alive and celebrating the masterful work of the craftspeople who build them!
Femme-Forward Film: The world needs more stories about women told through a genre lens. We are inspired by big creative swings by women in the cinematic landscape. Let us make more weird stuff!
Independent Cinema and Emerging Artists: Helping emerging directors (Jacki Gunn and Della Haddock) take their first major leap onto the global stage.
From all of us on Team Slug to you, the person with the cold hard cash:
ANYTHING HELPS, THANK YOU, WE SLUG YOU!
