Get Teo to the Commonwealth and World Champs
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Teo Cvetkovski, and I have been selected to represent Australia at the 2022 Commonwealth Karate Championships in Birmingham, England.
Additionally, I have also been selected for the U21 World Karate Championships, which are taking place in Konya, Turkey in October.
I have been training karate for 16 years, starting at the age of 4 and competing from a young age at State, National and International levels. I have many titles in both Kata and Kumite and most recently won 3 gold medals at the 2022 Oceania Championships, which was held in June this year in New Caledonia.
Competing in these tournaments has been an amazing opportunity but comes at a high price, as participation is fully self-funded. This includes travel costs, accommodation, registration fees, equipment and the official team tracksuits.
To get selected for an international championship, I have to excel in many other competitions throughout the calendar year, which also requires significant travel and self-funding. For these, my family continues to support me as much as possible.
Alongside my busy Karate schedule, I am a full-time Engineering student at RMIT University in Melbourne and have a casual job. Additionally, this year I am also training intensely for my upcoming 3rd Dan grading.
After a break over the last couple of years due to travel restrictions, the international tournament calendar in 2022 continues to be quite demanding. With the Oceania champs now successfully completed, I'm now heading into preparations for the Commonwealth event in September and await a potential selection for the WKF U21 World Championships later this year.
A rough estimate for the costs I expect to have to get to the Commonwealth Championships in the UK are:
- Flights: $3,500
- Accommodation: $1,500
- Competition registration & other fees: $500
- Food & other costs $500
- Approximate total cost for this event: $6,000
For the WKF U21 World Karate Championships, these costs are estimated at around $5,000.
- Flights: $2,500
- Accommodation: $1,500
- Competition registration & other fees: $500
- Food & other costs $500
- Approximate total cost for this event: $5,000
Total Costs: $11000
I would greatly appreciate any support that you are able to provide to help me fight for Australia at the Commonwealth and World Karate Championships!
Thank you, Teo.
