Help get Teddy Bear better

Donation protected
Teddy Bear is our 8 month old boxer, pit and bulldog mix. We adopted Teddy in December at a local adoption event after losing our beloved staffordshire, Bella, to cancer that same month. Teddy was a healthy normal puppy for the first 6 months. He was active, happy and healthy. Teddy had all his puppy vaccines in late December. He was never given flea or tick medication, but had his preventative heart worm tablet each month for three months. When Teddy turned 7 months, we noticed odd behavior. One day he came up to use like he didn't recognize us. This confusion lasted for about a half an hour. He was wobbly and weak and could barely walk without running into the furniture.  Then he was acting himself again. About two weeks later, Teddy was sleeping on his bed. He began shaking violently and was unconscious. All four legs were paddling hard. I knew then he was having a grand mal seizure. It last about 30 seconds, but felt like it was an hour.  When he snapped out of it, he didn't recognize us again for about ten minutes. He seemed alright again but then had a second seizure within five minutes. Again, it lasted about 30 seconds. He didn't gain his strength for about an hour. We took Teddy to the 24 hour vet since it was about 12am. They told us to take him to our regular vet the next day for tests, which we did. They tested his blood and said it may be idiopathic epilepsy, but impossible to be sure without further testing. The vet let us take him home for monitoring.

Two weeks later when I was working, I could here Teddy thrashing in his crate. He was sleeping before it started. I ran to him and saw he was having another grand mal seizure. I quickly grabbed his CBD oil and put two dropperfuls in his mouth while he was seizing. The episode lasted about 15 seconds. Teddy woke up and ran to go outside. Outside he suffered another but he didn't go unconscious. He started shaking and fell over on his side and was very frightened. I held his head and comforted him for the duration of the seizure which was again about 30 seconds. After his second episode we took him right to the vet again. He continued having focal seizures and they would not stop. That day Teddy had 14 focal seizures in addition to the grand mal. They gave him Valium and they still wouldn't stop. The vet then gave him Keppra and sent him home warning us he may have another. When we came home, Teddy started having the focal seizures around his mouth and was drooling terribly. My daughter and I carried him to the car and took him to the emergency vet again.  Because he had so many seizures that day, the vet was concerned about brain damage. So he was hospitalized and started on epileptic medication, Phenobarbitol. He was able to come home after over 24 hours of monitoring. The side effects of the medication were terrible. He was so anxious, he would not stop pacing or lay down for 2 days. I contacted the vet multiple times to update them on his behavior and status.

I started a gofundme account because I cannot afford all the vet visits and the hospitalization and I need help.  Teddy still needs multiple tests to find the cause of his seizures. The MRI alone is 2800.00 and they also want a spinal fluid analysis to rule out infection and brain tumor. Then he needs additional testing for thyroid and medication monitoring. These tests are enormously expensive. His vet visits alone are over a thousand dollars, not including the tests and medications he was given. We are taking him to a holistic vet this month because the medication he is on is very toxic to the liver and I do not want him to have further problems from it. I would like him to be on something safer for his organs.

This baby boy means so much to me and my daughter. Words just cannot express how much. If you can find it in your heart to help us and Teddy, it would be so appreciated. Every single dollar helps. We want to do whatever we can to be able to give him a long, happy life. Please help if you can. If you can't, would you please please share so we can find out what is causing Teddy to have these terrible events? Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️
