Let's help Steve and his dogs, Drover and Marshal get home!
Steve packed all his belongings, and dogs and headed off on an epic road trip in his Ford Transit Motorhome, from Adealide, too all over Australia and landing in far North Queensland.
Early hours of Sunday morning, 22/06/2025 tragedy struck. Steve and the dogs had parked up at a camp-site for the night, waking up early to pack up and get ready to hit the road again. Steve had put the gas burner stove on to boil the kettle, and took the dogs outside as he had always done every morning.
While steve was tying the dogs up, so he could finish packing up. He turned around and saw the smoke, the fire was already taking over. He did all he could to try and extinguish the blaze, the fire was already too powerful for the fire blanket, and the fire extinguisher almost got the blaze out, but not before running out of powder. The whole top cabin was already ablaze, and knowing he had gas bottles, oxygen tanks, butane bottles etc aboard, Steve grabbed what he could from the front seat. Which was his phone and one tin of dog food, before taking cover with the dogs. There was nothing more Steve could do, but stand back and watch his home explode, multiple times, with each gas bottle, butane and oxygen bottle exploding, spreading the fire and completely annihilating his home and all of his belongings.
Now completely stranded in far North Queens land. No phone signal, no home, no transport, no medication, food or money. Absolutely nothing.
Thankfully a truck driver eventually stopped and picked Steve and the dogs up and drove them 4.5 hours to Cairnes where he was able to find accommodation for the night. But not without a hefty price tag, and steve having no way to pay.
Now comes the monumental task of trying to get Steve and the 2 dogs home safety.
Insurance company has been contacted, but are unable to fly both dogs home. They aren't even able to pay enough for accommodation in the mean time.
Steve is stranded, loosing all his cash funding in the blaze, no medication, no money in his account, and no way to get him and his dogs home without our help.
The immediate goal is to fund flights/crate and everything else involved to fly both dogs home, and of course to fly Steve back home to Adeliade and to help with accommodation and food in the meantime.
