Help Get Sherzad Sisters to the World Games!

Kawsar and Freshta Sherzad (19 & 21 years old) are Afghan Refugees who recently relocated to Denver, CO. They are both former members of the Afghan Muaythai Federation and very accomplished Muaythai athletes. They arrived in Colorado in March 2022 with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Since then, our Easton family has been incredible in donating clothes and training equipment to help the sisters continue their Muaythai journeys.

Kawsar and Freshta are training hard and preparing for the World Games, which takes place July 14-17 in Birmingham, Alabama. The World Games is the "Olympics" for all sports not officially in the medaled Olympic games. Just like the Olympics, the World Games takes place every 4 years and includes the best of the best athletes in every sport. The Sherzad sisters were selected to compete in the World Games based on their prior accomplishments in the sport before they fled their home country of Afghanistan, leaving behind their parents and four other siblings. The sisters will be representing the Refugee Team (Equipe Muaythai dos Refugees) at the World Games, and will be coached by myself (Sean Madden) as the head coach of the Refugee Team.

Thankfully, the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) was able to purchase flights for the sisters to attend the World Games. However, there are many other costs associated with this event that the sisters simply to do not have the resources to afford.

With the magnitude of this event, we want to make sure we have resources available to help the sisters succeed in the ring (and in life). they have been an incredible addition to our Easton family in the short amount of time they have been with us. I have had MANY Easton students reach out to me and ask how they could help the sisters, so we have decided to create this fundraiser to help them. Since I am attending the World Games with them as their coach, I am leading the effort to raise funds.

If you would prefer to donate clothing or equipment instead of money, please reach out to me personally and I can provide a list of needed items.

I am excited to see these two compete and represent Easton at the World Games, but even more excited for everyone in our Easton family and the greater Muaythai community to meet them! They are truly the definition of fighters, both inside and outside the ring.

Thank you all!
