HELP SHARIFF RECOVER AFTER TRAGIC ACCIDENT
Donation protected
Hey Family
Here’s the latest on Shariff:
He’s alive, but not well. He’s had some challenges that have delayed his much-needed cranioplasty, which is critical for him to move on to recovery therapy.
His brain started building up CSF fluid again, so they installed a lumbar tap in his spine to drain it and help his brain process properly. After that, he developed sepsis (a blood infection) and was put on strong medication to fight it off. He had started eating on his own for a bit but is currently not swallowing properly, so a feeding tube has been inserted into his stomach to provide him with the proper nutrition needed to survive.
He’s also battling pneumonia and MRSA in his chest from being on a ventilator in Mexico, which has spread to his nose, and he’s now fighting a form of meningitis. Before this, they did manage to repair his skull, but he’s been drifting in and out of responsiveness since. He sleeps a lot—his brain is doing all it can to heal.
They performed the cranioplasty with the spinal tap in place, but now the tap drains directly from his brain. If his brain can’t process the fluid properly, they’ll have to install a permanent brain shunt, once he’s clear of any procedure threatening infections.
Right now, we are doing all we can to be there for him and let him know that his family and a legion of people who love and care for him are rooting for his recovery.
We ask that you please continue to pray, show love and send good vibes to him cause he is fighting like a MF to get back to us and see his baby again.
We deeply appreciate you all for your unwavering support of Shariff in these dire times.
Thank you
