Bring "Treehouse Players' Rapunzel" Back to NOLA!
Donation protected
NOLA Voice Theatre is fundraising to present the 30th anniversary production of the homegrown family musical theatre hit Treehouse Players' Rapunzel! Book & Lyrics by Vatican Lokey, Music & Score by Brent Crayon, and Additional Material by Edward R. Cox, the original production debuted in 1993 at True Brew Theatre, and played venues across the City for nearly three years, earning a Storer Boone Award, a Marquis Theatre Award, and praise from audiences and critics alike. In 1995, the show became the flagship production of a four-state theatre tour for President Clinton's new Americorps program in 1995. The show has been produced in New York, Los Angeles, and returned for a 25th anniversary concert version in 2018 at the Gretna Mainstreet New Music Theatre Festival.
This new production features original cast members Vatican Lokey and Ashley Smetherman Lemmler as herald Harold and Maude the Witch, alongside exciting new talents Maria Hefte and Stephen Denning as the parents, Brandon Marquez as The Prince, and young Kelly Laines as Rapunzel. This updated production is directed and designed by Edward R. Cox.
To bring the show back with a new cast and an updated script, we need to raise $4,000.00 to cover the production costs for the show, including actor and musician salaries, set construction, costume creation, prop building, publicity, and pay for the creative staff and technical crew running lights and sound.
Treehouse Players' Rapunzel opens in the Lagniappe space at Rivertown Theatres for the Performing Arts June 24th through July 9th. All of our donors are invited to a special sneak preview of the show on Friday, June 23rd. We hope you will consider donating to this worthy production. Thank you!
