Help get past Lumi's concussion tax debt

Donation protected
Hey loved ones,

This is Tom, writing to you to ask for help with Lumi. This request is only going out to a very small circle of Lumi's dearest supporters, and I am hoping to surprise her with our support.

Most of you will have already heard some parts of this story and situation; I am going to lay it out for you now.

In 2019, Lumi was hustling hard with Kikoko. She had a bunch of her pay lumped together as bonuses that year. As it turns out, the 'pay as you go' taxes that are normally withheld from one's pay-check didn't get properly recalibrated based on those bonuses. Consequently, she ended up with a significant tax debt. If 2020 had been a normal year, that administrative oversight would have just been an annoyance to sort out the next year...

But, dear reader, we all know that 2020 was not a normal year.

Lumi's concussion in early February, 2020 had many implications. The two foremost to this moment are that Lumi didn't file her taxes straight away that year (and thus didn't realize she had a large tax debt) and that the concussion stopped her from working.

Lumi only found out she had this tax debt sometime after the fact. This tax debt has been dwarfed as a problem by all the other life-initiations Lumi has been experiencing over these years. But as a steady burden on Lumi, it has persisted now for many years.

Lumi typically shrugs off these sorts of mishaps. She has incredible grit and determination. And, as she works to establish herself in a new calling as a plant medicine healer, while still battling periodic debilitating migraines, I have witnessed up close how thin she is spread, and how hard it has been.

This last week has been particularly rough; multiple migraines in the middle of a series of multiple working trips to Mexico, Washington, the Bay Area and now Costa Rica. She puts on a brave face and a smile and her positive spin on it all. And that works so often! We all get taken in by her magic in this way. Truth be told, however, she is hurting right now. She is just so tired of her chronic health challenges; tired of being in her body. But she feels like she has to keep pushing, pushing, pushing to build up her following (and income) and to get rid of her debt.

She'd be mortified that I'm sharing this with you, or that I would be asking for help specifically about money stuff and her tax debt. She is so fiercely independent and go-getting, these last few years have been incredibly humbling.

The debt is a little over $12500. I am hoping that between us in this circle, we can put a serious dent or completely erase it. Please, only give what you are comfortable giving; any help is hugely appreciated. I will get the ball rolling with a start of $1000.
