The “24- year old woman” in the article and the following excerpt from it, is my sister, Alora. She had just gotten off a 9 hour shift at work and was walking with her coworker who was giving her a ride home when they were struck. To say that she and our whole family are shocked, sad, and angry is an understatement. We are also incredibly and unbelievably grateful that she is alive and with time will make a full recovery. Her injuries are severe and extensive. She has undergone surgery and is still at the hospital in a lot pain. The man who fled the scene has still not been apprehended or held responsible for what he’s done.
She’s going to have a long road of recovery ahead along with all of the expenses associated with a massive injury like the ones she has sustained. Anything that can be donated will go toward medical bills, physical and emotionally therapy costs, and her living expenses as she is not able to even walk, let alone work. She and our family appreciate any support. Thank you.

A 24-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man were crossing 14th Street in an unmarked crosswalk. They were about three-quarters of the way when an unknown person in a 2013 Ford Mustang lost control while attempting a U-turn and crashed into them, Heims said.
The woman was pinned against a wall, suffering an open fracture of her lower left leg and a fractured left hip, he said. The man had multiple abrasions.
The Mustang driver fled the scene on foot and was not located, Heims said.
