Help get Nico the surgery he desperately needs

Hi, my name is Ashley, and I’m fundraising for my dog Nico—my soul dog, my best friend, the love of my life.

Nico was born with a neurological condition called cerebellar hypoplasia, which affects his coordination but not his spirit. I adopted him in 2016 when he quite literally chose me at the shelter, and from that day forward, he has been by my side - loving, loyal, and full of wobbly life.

Recently, Nico was diagnosed with a serious spinal issue that’s causing compression in his neck. The only way to relieve his pain and give him the chance at a full, happy life again is a surgery called a V-slot procedure. The cost of the surgery is around $10,000, and I'm hoping to raise even a small portion money to help cover a portion of the surgery and some of his recovery.

I've tried my best to prepare for this, but an unexpected car accident and the cost of replacing my vehicle have set me back financially. On top of that, pet insurance won’t cover Nico due to his pre-existing condition.

Nico is not just my dog - he’s the one who gets me through my hardest days, always giving me his signature wobble, always bringing light into my life. Anyone who has met Nico knows how special he is. He’s sweet, silly, and full of love despite everything he’s faced. He still has so much life ahead of him, and I can’t bear to think of losing him now - not when this is fixable.

I’ll be honest—this is incredibly hard for me to start. I don’t like asking for help, and I’ve gone back and forth about whether to create this fundraiser at all. I'm swallowing my pride and asking because Nico deserves this chance. He literally is my everything, and the thought of the pain he’s in, hurts me too.
